Versatility: Available in two phases, peroxide and thickener, it allows for the manipulation of just the necessary amount of the product. It can be used for a single tooth or a whole arch, avoiding waste of material.
Excellent yield: The complete kit allows for 18 applications.
Intense carmine color: It facilitates the visualization of the application area; the product becomes colorless at the end of the whitening process.
• In-office whitening of vital and non-vital teeth.
Step by step
Vital Teeth Whitening
Perform prophylaxis of the teeth, leaving the tooth surface free from biofilm. Select and record the patient’s teeth shade with a shade guide and/or photograph prior to starting whitening.
Proceed to the insertion of the Arcflex (FGM) lips retractor, to facilitate access and handling of the buccal cavity, and then apply Desensibilize KF 2% for 10 minutes on the teeth that will be whitened.
After desensitizing, remove the gel and dry the teeth and gum using air jets. Do the relative isolation applying the light -curing resin Top dam (FGM)
Using the mixing tray that comes with the set, mix the phase Peroxide (phase 1) with the thickener phase (phase 2), at the rate of 3 drops of peroxide for 1 drop of thickener. The mixture of 3 drops of peroxide to 1 drop of thickener is enough to apply over one tooth. For the smiling line (20 teeth), in general 18 drops of peroxide to 6 drops of thickener are enough. Shake well the thickener flask prior to using it, to homogenize its contents. Failure in homogenizing the thickener may result into a low viscosity gel (insufficient viscosity).
Use a spatula to apply the gel over the teeth to be whitened, generally from 1st or 2nd premolar to the other. Cover the vestibular face of the teeth with a gel layer as thin as possible. You may extend the coverage of the gel to the small incisive/occlusal surface area of the teeth. At the end of the recommended time, remove the gel using a thin suction cannula, and clean them with a gauze to make them ready for a new application of gel. Repeat the steps 4 to 6 for up to two times (maximum) during the same session, if required, according to the evolution of results and monitoring of the patient’s sensitivity.
At the end of the session, remove the gel using a thin suction cannula and wash the teeth thoroughly. Removal of the gums dam may be made using a probe or similar.
To prevent dental hypersensitivity during and after treatment, Desensitize KF2% (FGM) (potassium nitrate at 5% and sodium fluoride at 2%) may be used prior to whitening, in a prophylactic character. The option of applying the desensitizer after whitening is also valid, however less efficient in certain cases. In both cases (prior to or after applying the whitener), Desensitize KF2% (FGM) must be applied to the teeth for 10 minutes. In cases of high hypersensitivity after the session, Desensitize 0.2% (FGM) (at-home use desensitizer) may be applied for 10 minutes into an individual mold, by the patient, on daily basis until the symptoms disappear.
2.Monitor patient throughout the whitening regarding dental hypersensitivity and possible spots of peroxide irritation in soft tissues. Cracks on the enamel or exposure of dentine may cause acute and intense pain. In these cases, we recommend interrupting the treatment, seeking corrective treatment prior to resuming.
3. If the whitening obtained does not meet the expectations, and the patient does not present hypersensitivity or another issues, you may reapply the product for up to two more sessions, totaling three sessions. If more than one session is required, consider a minimum interval between sessions of 7 days.
4- If the whitener is being stored under cooling, take it off the cooler at least 30 minutes prior to starting treatment.
Step by step
Non-vital teeth whitening
Prior to starting whitening, take an X-ray of the tooth to be whitened to check its conditions. Treatment must be made within acceptable endodontic standards.
Select and record the patient’s teeth shade using a shade guide or a photograph prior to starting the whitening.
Make the access to the pulp chamber by removing all restoring materials, exposing the canals inlet with gutta percha. Having cleaned the pulp chamber, deepen the canal’s entry by removing approximately 3mm of filling to make the cervical sealing aiming at preventing the whitener to go into the root canal and spreading to the periodontal. We recommend the cervical sealing to be made with glass ionomer or fluid composite.
Make absolute or relative isolation using Top dam (FGM), and mix the Whiteness HP Maxx phases at the rate of 3 drops of phase 1 (peroxide) to 1 drop of phase 2 (thickener). In general, 6 peroxide drops for 2 thickener drops are enough for one application. Shake well the thickener’s flask prior to using it, to homogenize its contents. Failure to homogenize the thickener may result into a low viscosity gel (insufficient viscosity).
Apply Whiteness HP at the vestibular face and into the pulp chamber with the help of a brush. A layer of approximately 1mm thickness is enough. Let the gel rest against the teeth surface for 15 minutes, since the beginning of its application.
Remove the gel using a thin suction cannula prior to reapplying the product. Up to three gel applications can be made in the same session. Upon finishing the application of whitening gel, wash and dry the tooth. Perform a temporary restoration of the cavity, and monitor the whitening results for at least one week. If required, repeat applications up to 4 times.
At the end of the whole whitening process, perform the final restoration of the whitened tooth. We recommend waiting for 7 days prior to performing restoration (time to stabilize the tooth’s shade and eliminating residual oxygen).
1- The Non-vital tooth with temporary restoration presents a crown weakened due to the absence of dental structure within it. Instruct the patient to be careful not to fracture the crown of the fragile tooth. 2 – Optionally, upon removal of Whiteness HP, you may use Whiteness Super-Endo (FGM) – carbamide peroxide at 37% for internal use) and resume the tooth’s whitening during the interval between sessions using Whiteness HP (to use the Whiteness Super-Endo whitener, check its specific usage instructions).
