Male patient, 32.
COMPLAINT
Fracture of tooth 21 due to local trauma.
INITIAL APPEARANCE
Coronal fracture of tooth 21 involving enamel and dentin.
CLINICAL/X-RAY EXAM
Tooth 21 had been treated endodontically. The trauma did not cause damage to the tissues surrounding the tooth, but extensive fracture and darkening of the dental remnant was noticed.
TREATMENT
Since the dental remnant was extensively fractured and needed reinforcement, the installation of an intraradicular fiberglass post was carried out. With the proper anchoring, a preparation of the dental remnant was done for the direct restorative approach with composite resin.
