Bio-additive treatment in anterior teeth
29-year-old female patient.
COMPLAINT:
Unsatisfied with the color, shape and position of her upper anterior teeth.
CLINICAL/RADIOGRAPHIC EXAM:
There was a misalignment of the upper anterior teeth with a difference in incisal and labial height, and a moderate darkening in both arches.
TREATMENT:
In-office whitening with 35% hydrogen peroxide (Whiteness HP AutoMixx) was recommended, along with a bio-additive treatment by using Vittra APS composite for direct restorations. The term "bio-additive" has been used and described in the literature for procedures that exclude any wear and tear to the remaining dental structure, limiting itself only to the surface treatment and subsequent addition of any restorative material in order to restore the amount of dental structure required, so that the tooth can have resistance, function and, consequently, an adequate appearance. All of this without any biological cost to the stomatognathic system.
